I use to be a client at Visalia Youth Services. I went to counseling after my mother died from cancer and I went to live with my dad. I didn’t like living with him so I went to live with my grandmother. Things weren’t going to well with me and my grandmother. My counselor and rehab person really helped me. I was able to talk about my feelings by myself and with grandmother in family therapy. I was feeling depressed and met with the doctor. He gave me medicine that made me feel better. With the help of my counselor and the medicine I felt better. I decided to stop going after I turned 18, but I learned a lot from counseling. I still use the coping skills and communication skills that I learned. Now I am a student at COS and will be going to Fresno State next year.
