WHO WE ARE:

The Family Intervention Program (FIP) is a partnership between Turning Point of Central California and Tulare County Health and Human Services Agency TulareWorks.  We are located at the Visalia Youth Services Clinic.

What does Family Intervention Provide?

FIP provides short-term family and child mental health services throughout the county for TulareWork’s participants.

Services are provided in the home, youth clinic, school, and/or other community setting.

FIP works collaboratively with other community based organizations to provide referrals once the case is closed and/or referrals to local Children’s Mental Health clinics if the client requires a higher level of care.

Our clinicians are trained to utilize Evidenced Based Practices such as Trauma Focused –Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Play therapy, and Coping and Support Training (CAST).

What types of services are offered?

FIP provides Assessments, Individual and Family Therapy, Parenting and Skills Groups, Case Management- Linkage and Referral.

Why are these services provided?

We believe that by empowering, supporting, and identifying barriers of the family those families can move toward independence and wellness.

“Struggling to co-parent with her ex-husband, Vanessa brought her 3 boys to FIP because she was worried about them being impacted by the couple arguing. She was particularly concerned about Marcus who was her oldest at 16. Marcus had recently given up sports, had trouble finishing his chores, wasn’t sleeping and did not want to go to his Dad’s house anymore. The parents participated in co-parenting support services and Marcus participated in additional treatment through FIP. By the end of treatment Marcus had improved in mood, daily functioning, improved motivation, had better grades, had plans for the future and even his relationship with father improved. Parents found ways to co parent, and developed healthy boundaries. No longer worried to leave Marcus home alone, about Mom completed her education and got a job at a hospital as a Psych Tech.

“Family Intervention helped me and my son just when I thought no one cared. We are so thankful for the time they gave us.”
