WHO WE ARE

The Journey On long-term therapeutic home is a cooperative effort between Turning Point of Central California, Inc., Redwood Coast Regional Center, and Sonoma Regional Project. The Journey On therapeutic home is available to clients of Regional Centers who are generally between the ages of 7 and 17. The Journey On therapeutic home is a 4-bed program for children with developmental challenges. It is located in a residential neighborhood in the City of Ukiah. Turning Point provides a direct care staffing ratio higher than the typical “group home” staffing ratio.

Program Philosophy
Journey On is considered to be what we have termed a “step-down” home. This home provides long-term support to children, ages 7 to 17 with complex mental/emotional/physical health issues. The goal is for children to participate in developing a long-term support plan, and successfully implement the plan for six to twelve months, enabling them to move to a family home living arrangement.

Ryan came to Journey On five years ago facing many challenges when upset he would lash out and break things do hundreds of dollars of damage within minutes. School was hard for him. He would throw desk , get upset, and be kicked out of school. He didn’t know how to express his emotions in a positive way. After working on his skills at Journey On, he now uses communication when he gets frustrated to express how he’s feeling. His teachers now call with excitement to say how well of a student he is. He is approaching 18 years old, obtained his food handlers card, and has became passionate about cooking. He even prepares dinner for his peers most night of the week. He has dreams of getting his own apartment, and having a career in Cooking or fashion. He has stated that in the past he didn’t think he would make it this far, and that he is actually excited for his future.
